It’s time for our annual Summer Picnic! Surprise—we’re heading back out to the historic Little Orleans cabin adjacent to the C&O Canal National Historic Park by Little Orleans, MD.
Little Orleans cabin is a frame building with a kitchen, living room, and a sleeping loft upstairs. The cabin has electricity and hot- and cold-runing water with an indoor shower. The kitchen is fully stocked, sporting an electric range and refrigerator. However, occupants use the privy outside for the purposes for which privies are designed and built. The cabin sits on high ground in a meadow, out of sight of but close by the Potomac River and the C&O Canal towpath. Canoes can be rented from an outfitter in the nearby town of Little Orleans; biking on the abandoned railroad grade is available as well as hiking in the Green Ridge State Forest and on the towpath.
