About Us
Ours is a very select group—We welcome everyone who hikes and can carry and use digging tools. You don’t have to be a member of PATC to volunteer your time and help us. We don’t care about your gender or your age—so long as you can vote or have your parent or guardian present—or any other social or political status.

The Acme Treadway Company is a volunteer trail crew who construct or reconstruct sections of public hiking trails maintained by the Potomac Appalachian Trail Club where there’s a need. Theoretically, we can work on any section of trail maintained by PATC in southern Pennsylvania, Maryland, the suburbs of Washington, DC, West Virginia, Northern Virginia, the Shenandoah Valley, the George Washington National Forest, Prince William Forest National Park, Fredericksburg-Spotsylvania National Military Park, and Shenandoah National Park. In fact, we have worked on the Tuscarora Trail in western Virginia, the Appalachian Trail in Shenandoah National Park, and on trails in suburban Maryland and Northern Virginia.
