Horses and pack animals are prohibited on the Tuscarora Trail on land owned by PATC where the trail is constructed and meant for foot travel only. Horses and pack animals are permitted on some trails used by the Tuscarora Trail, such as those in the Jefferson & George Washington National Forest.
The Lee Ranger District permits horses on all trails.
The Bureau of State Parks declares “Horses are permitted on the right side of state recreation area roads open to motor vehicles and designated horseback riding trails and areas.”
Horses are permitted on trails that are red–blazed. The Tuscarora Trail coexists in the management area with several red-blazed trails.
