The Potomac Appalachian Trail Club remains committed to the construction, rehabilitation, and maintenance of side and connecting trails branching off the Tuscarora Trail. The Club believes that such secondary trails provide access to the Tuscarora Trail, and offer opportunities to explore and enjoy significant scenic, natural, and cultural resources to hikers of the Tuscarora Trail. Where allowed by local partners, secondary trails will be blazed similarly to the Tuscarora Trail using PATC Side-Trail White paint.
Trail construction and maintenance standards for the secondary trails correspond to those of the Tuscarora Trail. The Potomac Appalachian Trail Club will thoroughly coordinate with partners all proposals for new trail construction or the realignment of existing secondary trails, including the preparation of draft documentation required for environmental compliance reviews. The Potomac Appalachian Trail Club should be involved by the local partners in decisions concerning the construction of trails that connect with the Tuscarora Trail in the area for which PATC is responsible.
