Spring 2014 Trails Workshop
The PATC district manager for the Appalachian Trail in the South District of Shenandoah National Park has invited us—the Acme Treadway Company—to participate in the Trails Management Workshop there in April.
Do you know people who think their hiking trails just appeared? Or were made by ancient Native Americans as they nomadically traversed the Great North American Wilderness?
You can help correct that misapprenshion and learn about maintaining and managing public hiking trails.

Plan to arrive at the Loft Mountain Wayside by 9:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 17 to sign in and select your sessions. The Workshop begins at 9:30 A.M. — we will proceed from the Wayside to our training site.
We will gather later at the J. Frank Schairer Trail Center for R&R and food! This 200-acre area owned by PATC sits above Eaton Hollow on the western face of the Blue Ridge.
During the training, we will park at the closest adjacent Skyline Drive Parking Area. When we move to the Schairer Trail Center, you’ll park at the Eaton Hollow Overlook off of Skyline Drive, about 6 miles south of the Swift Run Gap Entrance Station. Parking is limited.
The J. Frank Schairer Trail Center comfortably sleeps up to 12 inside, and there’s plenty of room for tenting, too.
Your registration costs $15.00; this includes your supper on Saturday and breakfast & trail lunch on Sunday.
