Remebering the Acme Treadway Company Trail Crew!
Our crew began working together back in 2002, when we restored the Appalachian Trail where it crosses Brown Gap in Shenandoah National Park. We were a “roving” crew, so we helped on a variety of public hiking trails maintained by the Potomac Appalachian Trail Club.
There was always a place on our crew for new members. Age was not a factor, so long as you were at least 21 and could walk, carry tools, and use them out in the back country. Didn’t know how to build or restore a hiking trail? No problem—we trained you in their safe use.
Browse around and see what we did and where we did it! There is never a dearth of projects needed to be done, so we had many opportunities to work and have of fun!
